Rivian claim all VW Group cars worldwide will use its new EV Platform
Volkswagen’s future electric vehicles (EVs) will incorporate Rivian’s software platform and technology, stemming from a joint venture between the two companies. This collaboration provides a financial boost for Rivian and gives Volkswagen access to advanced EV software and zonal architecture, particularly from Rivian’s upcoming R2 series.
While Volkswagen will leverage Rivian’s modular and scalable technology stack, each VW brand will maintain its distinct styling, user interface, and suspension tuning. This partnership primarily focuses on the software and electrical architecture rather than the physical vehicle platform, as Volkswagen continues to develop its own SSP architecture. The integration of Rivian’s technology is expected to help Volkswagen address previous challenges in its EV software development.
