I Took My Honda Civic to a WIND TUNNEL | 50×50 Science Across America

We took my Honda Civic race car to a wind tunnel to find out how much downforce and aerodynamic drag it actually produces – and the results were surprising. We tested the splitter, rear wing, diffuser, hood vents, radiator ducting, windows, and more, ultimately finding 1,600 lbs of downforce at 150 mph while learning how real-world aerodynamics can make a track car faster.

50×50: Science Across America is a national series uncovering exceptional science in all 50 states. It is a production of the Independent Media Initiative in collaboration with HHMI Tangled Bank Studios, Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, and the Winn Family Foundation. See all the states at 5050science.com.
