Can A BMW Z4 Run On Train Wheels?

We set ourselves a simple challenge: buy a car on Autotrader, fit a set of custom train wheels and run it on real railway tracks. It sounds ridiculous, but with the help of Top Gear engineer Peter we tried to build a sports car that can run on the British rail network in order to avoid traffic.

In this episode we reveal how the conversion works, how the Z4 handles with steel wheels, what it is like to drive a car on rails and whether this experiment can teach us something useful about transport. We also discover a few surprises along the way. Some of them good. Some of them not so good.

If you want to see a sports car behave in a way it was never designed to behave, or you just want to know what happens when curiosity meets engineering, this is the one. Found on Autotrader. Tested in the strangest way possible.
