72-Second EV Charging: Supercapacitor Battery Tech Finally Gets Real!
Swiss startup Morand has unveiled a groundbreaking hybrid energy storage system, dubbed “eTechnology,” that combines the rapid charging capabilities of supercapacitors with the energy density of traditional batteries. In independent tests, a 7.2 kWh prototype achieved an 80% charge in just 72 seconds and a full charge in 2.5 minutes at up to 900 A/360 kW. This innovation could revolutionize urban EVs, e-bikes, and drones by significantly reducing charging times.
